Isaiah: Vision for Revival

 Pastor’s Pen,

This Sunday: Isaiah: Vision for Revival                                                                                Isaiah 6:1-13

If there's one word that seems to characterize our day, it's complacency. Times have been tough, COVID has disrupted life in so many ways, and while we dislike much about how life is going, we collectively don't seem to be willing to do much about it.

One example is in the area of unemployment. Because our government has been willing to subsidize with greater unemployment benefits, often more than individuals can earn on the job, many businesses are finding it hard to hire enough people to keep their operation going.

Churches are affected in terms of attendance. When COVID struck, a large number of churches, including ours,  begin streaming our services live online. Now that our church and others have opened back up, many people have found it much easier to sit on the couch in pajamas rather than attend worship with other members of the church family as we are exhorted to do in Hebrews 10:25.

Complacency leads to apathy, indifference, and ultimately a like a commitment. So what can turn this lack of commitment around for God's people? What can revive us?

In a word, vision!  That’s what happened to the prophet Isaiah had a strategic moment in his life and in the history of his people. Isaiah’s vision in the year that Judah's King Uzziah died literally transformed his life, removed his complacency and replaced it with a sense of mission. Who

We appreciate those who help sanitize our facilities for services each Saturday morning in in in in in in in in in in in preparation for Sunday worship as well as those who make it possible for us to ‘live-stream’ on Facebook at 10:45 each Sunday morning, and to post each Sunday’s message on our website (www.fccwylie.org) on Sunday afternoons.

When you enter the sanctuary Sunday, after you are given a bulletin, stop by the communion table where the offering plates are located in the rear of the worship center and pick up your disposable communion cup. Then following the service, please dispose of it in the trash can. (Mark 10:45)

We continue to hold our Sunday services with all safety protocols and pre-service sanitizing in place. No Sunday school yet, and the nursery is not available.  We are now following the latest CDC guidelines which allow fully vaccinated individuals to go without masks. We use bulletins printed untouched by human hands, with songs, etc. printed therein, and pre-packaged communion elements. Offering plates are located at the rear, or giving can be done online at www.fccwylie.org.

If you still feel uncomfortable attending, feel free to join our live stream on Facebook, at 10:45 AM, which includes communion and the worship hymns. Or the message is available each Sunday afternoon on our website. (www.fccwylie.org)

Concluding observations:

When we see God as He is, our lives will be different                                                                                                                                          When we see ourselves as we really are, we will be motivated for God to change us                                                                                                                                          When we sense God's call on our lives, we must respond as Isaiah did

RADIO THIS WEEKEND:

We Christians are all familiar with the word ministry, but do we really understand what the Bible teaches on this important subject? Is ministry just for pastors, missionaries and other “professionals?” Or do we each have a ministry to fulfill?

This weekend on Encouragement Live, Dr. Mark Yarborough, president of Dallas theological seminary, joins host Don Hawkins to provide biblical answers and encouragement regarding ministry.

Encouragement Live can be heard Saturday at 7:05 PM central time on American Family Radio (www.afr.net) and on theworshipchannel.org.  Re-broadcast Sunday 9 pm on The Worship Channel.
